The spartan design offers a contemplative sanctuary from the urban street below and seeks to distill maximum architectural effect through minimal means. Stripped to its concrete frame and finished in white porcelain flooring and render, the juxtaposition of infill wood cabinetry and paneling creates dynamic material and spatial thresholds, thus defining programmatic zones longitudinally through the depth of the linear unit. Mediterranean light filters into the pristine volume, and the finishes and details heighten the light’s ever-changing qualities as an event for contemplation.
